procedures

Leaving Campus: Medical or Dental Appointments
If a student needs to leave campus to attend an appointment the procedure they need to follow is:

1.

Please send your student with a note explaining what time they need to leave school and for what reason.  Please sign the note and provide us a phone number to reach you should the need arise.

2.

Your student needs to deliver the note to the Attendance Office BEFORE the start of school.  Spontaneous requests to exit school will be documented as an “unexcused absence”.

3. Students will be issued a “call slip” to give to that period teacher.
4.

Their teacher will excuse them at the designated time, and they MUST come to the Attendance Office to “sign out”.   As their parent, you need to physically come into the attendance office to sign your student out, IF the student is not of legal driving age. No exceptions!

Getting Messages/Items to Students
The office does not deliver messages to students unless it is an absolute emergency (extreme illness or death).
If you need to make contact with your student during the day, we will happily post a message on the message board outside the attendance office. Your student needs to be versed to check the board. Please do not make calls via your student’s cell phone during class time, as the phone will be confiscated!
If your student forgot their lunch or homework you may bring it to school and leave it in the attendance office. When the lunch bell rings we will page your student to come to the attendance office. This is for homework or lunches only ~ NOT personal messages.
Tardies

If your student has an excused tardy, i.e., illness, or medical appointment, please send them to school with a note, advising us of the situation. Students must sign-in when they arrive and receive a “re-admit slip” to present to their teacher.

Please be aware that according to the State of California, the only situations which are excused include: illness, medical, dental, and court appointments.

Absence
If your student will be absent from school, please call the Attendance Phone Line at: 439-9526. This voice mail system operates 24/7; please leave detailed information about your student’s absence. Messages are retrieved on a regular basis throughout the day. Thank you!
