AES - Engineering Deadline 10/7/2015:

AES' belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason they are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question: When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? Elks Lodge- Most Valuable Student Scholarship Deadline 12/4/2015:

There are 6 scholarships available, 1st, 2nd and 3rd for both boys and girls with a total scholarship award of $2400. If you win local you move on to the state level and then the national level.  Following is a guideline:  1) Visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm  2) Click on the 2016 MVS application link  3) Enter your email address to register  4) Fill out your contact information and submit  5) Your unique cover page will be generated, along with the remaining pages of the application  6) IMPORTANT- Your cover page must include your unique application ID in the upper right corner     7) Save the PDF of the application to your computer  8) When complete, print the application.  Applications must be turned in to Santa Cruz Elks Lodge at 150 Jewell St. Santa Cruz, CA 95060 between 9:00 and 3:00 weekdays Applications are only available by download from the ENF website

Flight Training Scholarship Deadline 12/31/2015:

The Monterey Bay Chapter of The Ninety Nines International Organization of Women Pilots is dedicated to providing opportunities for women in the Monterey Bay area to advance their aviation goals. Applicant must be a female living within Monterey or Santa Cruz counties. The successful applicant will be selected by the judges based on commitment to aviation, financial need and eligibility. Youth on Course Deadline 1/11/2016:

The core purpose of Youth on Course is to provide youth with access to life changing opportunities through golf. We do this through many avenues, one of which is scholarships. To be considered for a scholarship you must 1) Be a high school senior at an accredited Northern California high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  2) Scholarships are both need and merit based. 3) You must be accepted for enrollment at a four-year college/university the same year the scholarship is awarded.  4) You do not need to be a member of Youth on Course but Youth on Course members and/or golfers will be given first priority. Scholarships range from $4000 to $12,000.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Deadline 1/20/2016:

RMHC seeks to invest in students who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational goals. 4 scholarships will be awarded but you may only apply to one:

1) RMHC/Asia: at least 1 parent must be of Asian heritage

2) RMHC/Future Achievers:  At least one parent must be of African American or Black Caribbean heritage

3) RMHC/HACER: at least 1 parent must be of Hispanic heritage

The California Association of Collectors (CAC) Deadline 1/20/2016:

The CAC is proud to announce a scholarship opportunity for 2015 graduating California high school seniors for their use at any accredited college, university or vocational school. Essay subject is: "Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Financial Credit During Your College Years" that must be typed, 12 point font, double spaced, and be between 700 and 1000 words. 1st Award $2500, 2nd Award $2000, 3rd Award $1500.                  To apply:

Bay Federal Scholarship Deadline 1/30/2016:

Bay Federal Credit Union's Scholarship is for students who are pursuing educational and career training opportunities after high school. Up to three individual winners will be awarded $1500 to pay for expenses directly related to their continuing education.  Those who wish to be considered for a $1,500 award must meet Bay Federal's eligibility criteria, be enrolled (or plan to enroll) as a student at any post-secondary college,, university, trade or technical school, in the Fall of 2016 and submit a completed application and required materials package and a personal essay about an experience learning an important financial lesson.

APCA Deadline 1/31/2016:

Asian Pacific Islanders for Professional and Community Advancement is a non-profit, employee resource group of AT&T Inc. A major goal of APCA is to promote diversity and its advantages throughout our corporation and our communities. One way we accomplish this goal is be granting annual non-renewable scholarships to college-bound high school students.  There are two types of scholarships available to applicants.

APCA National Scholarship will award twenty eight $2000 scholarships. APCA State Scholarship will award one $1000 scholarship. Applicants who are not awarded a national scholarship will be automatically considered for state scholarships.

Applicants must meet all of the following eligibility:

♦All full time graduating high school seniors in good academic standing (minimum GPA 3.4 unweighted) of any ethnic or cultural background, who plan to attend an accredited college or university (2-year and 4-year) in Fall 2016

Ocean Mist Farms Deadline 1/31/2016:

Ocean Mist Farms is offering 4 separate scholarships:

1) Integrity Scholarship This recipient will be a student with plans to pursue a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in the agriculture field. Applicant essay for the INTEGRITY scholarship should emphasize leadership experiences and successes as part of demonstating the guiding values of Ocean Mist Farms.

2) Passion Scholarship This recipient will be a student with plans to pursue a Bachelor's degree in the agriculture field. Ocean Mist Farms will consider offering a paid internship to the PASSION scholarship recipient in addition to the scholarship award.

3) Quality Scholarship This recipient is intended for a student with plans to pursue a Bachelor's degree in any subject area.

4) Success Scholarship This scholarship is for a student with plans to pursue an Associate's degree or a degree from an accredited vocational school in any subject area.

All the above scholarships require at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants must supply an essay of not more than 500 words and supply 3 letters of recommendation.  To apply:

eQuality Scholarship Deadline 2/1/2016:

eQuality Scholarship Collaborative is proud to announce its 27th annual scholarship program. In 2015 eQuality awarded 18 scholarships totaling $114,000 to graduating high school students and 2016 is expected to be similar in opportunity. The eQuality scholarship is designed to recognize service to the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer community.

• be a resident of northern or central California

• have completed or complete high school or equivalent by June 30, 2016

SportQuest Deadline 2/1/2016:

The SportQuest Playing With Purpose Scholarship Program is a national program that honors and encourages high school student athletes who excel athletically, academically and have committed their life to following Christ. AFA Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness College Scholarship Deadline 2/15/2016:

The AFA Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness College Scholarship is available to high school students who will be entering an accredited four-year college or university within 12 months of the deadline. You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this award.  To apply you must submit a short personal biography and a 1200 to 1500 word essay describing how Alzheimer's disease has changed or impacted your life; and what you have learned about yourself, your family, and /or your community in the face of coping with Alzheimer's disease.

National Agriculture Day Poetry Contest Deadline 2/24/2016:

Write a poem and you could win $200 and have your poem pasted on 15,000 placemats distributed to county restaurants next year! There are two divisions of the contest, 7-9th graders and 10-12th graders.  Any style poetry may be used and should not exceed 12 lines. The theme of the poem is "Grown in Santa Cruz and the Pajaro Valley."

Jimmie Cox Memorial Scholarship Deadline 2/24/2016:

The Jimmie Cox Memorial Scholarship has teamed up with American AgCredit to offer a $4,000 award for a student entering college and majoring in agriculture. This award will be allocated for the remaining years in college (max 4 years) with verification of registration for each session of full time classes. Students must live in Santa Cruz County or be a current member of the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau. Scholarships are based on student leadership skills, a demonstrated commitment to the industry, grades and financial need.

Community Foundation has 9 scholarships that they are offering Santa Cruz County residents. Only one application is needed to apply for all scholarships that you qualify for. Awards range from $250 - $2500

The NDGW is an organizatin dedicated to enhancing the beauty and history of Caliifornia. They are offering $5000 scholarships to:

* Native born Californians

* Overall GPA of at least 3.5

* Completion of an essay and an autobiography

* Two letters of recommendation

* An official transcript

Sons of Italy Deadline 3/1/2016:

The Sons of Italy are offering two scholarships for 2016 graduates. 1) Academic Scholarship  2) Italian Language Study in Italy for the summer of 2016.

Applicant must be wholly or partially of Italian descent and applicant must be enrolled in an accredited trade school, college, university or community college for the fall of 2016. A transcript, 2 letters of recommendation and a 200 word essay are required.  To apply:

Association of California School Administrators - ACSA Deadline 3/4/2016:

This $500 scholarship is for those high school students interested in a career in education.

Applicants must supply:

1)  An essay (not to exceed 500 words) on your educational and career goals

2)  Evidence of academic performance (transcript)

3)  Proof of residence (current utility bill or other similar documentation)

** High school applicants must live within the boundary of Santa Cruz County schools

** Applicants must be attending a 2 or 4-year college in fall 2016

** Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, professor, counselor or administrator about their character, academic history and potential as an educator.

If you are selected, you will need to provide proof of acceptance to your college or university and bring in a copy of your course schedule during the fall semester to receive this scholsrship

Italian Catholic Federation Deadline 3/15/2016:

One of the many programs offered by ICF are scholarships. To qualify students must 1) Have a GPA of 3.2 or highter  2) Student must be Catholic and of Italian Descent or a parent or grandparent be a member of ICF and then the student must be Catholic but not necessarily of Italian Descent 3) A letter of recommendation and character reference  4) A personal letter of approximately 150 words explaining applicants Italian origin, why the applicants Roman Catholic Faith is important to him or her and the applicants plans for the future.

CAA/ESA Youth Scholarship Deadline 3/25/2016:

The CAA/ESA scholarship offers funds to children of active duty law enforcement and fire service personnel in the State of California who are graduating from high school in 2016. Applicants must:

♦ Be accepted into an accredited college or university

♦ Have a mother, father or natural guardian who meet the criteria

♦ Complete the application

♦ Submit typed essay

♦ Supply transcripts

Kiwanis of the Valleys - Joseph A. Grabill "UNK" Scholarship Deadline 3/31/2016:

This scholarship is intended to benefit one graduating senior who is part of the Key Club at Scotts Valley High, San Lorenzo High or PCS who, on the basis of academic achievement and community involvement will best represent these Key Clubs and the ideals of Kiwanis. The awarded student will receive $1000.

The criteria for selection includes:

1) Applicant must be a US citizen or legal resident of the USA

2) Applicant must attach a strong written, personal reference from teacher or counselor

3) Applicant must attach a current transcript reflecting all graduation requirements that have been or will be completed by graduation. The transcript must include a GPA

4) Applicants may be called to attend an interview with the Kiwanis Scholarship Selection Committee

5) All essays, attached documents or letters of recommendation must be typed. Applicant forms may be filled out by hand in black ink only. Applicants and all supporting documents must be in English.

6) Financial status will not be a factor affecting the grant of the scholarship

Kiwanis of the Valleys - Mike Smith Scholarship Deadline 3/31/2016:

The purpose of the Mike Smith Kiwanis Scholarship is to provide financial assistance for post secondary education to senior High School students of PCS, San Lorenzo Valley or Scotts Valley High School who demonstrate quality leadership, community service and civic values, both on their high school campus and out in their respective communities of residence. High academic achievement is not necessarily a requirement. This scholarship will recognize and provide $2500 aid for those students that are interested in attending a college, community college or a trade/vocational program. If there is a special needs or hardship situation of the applicant, that will be taken into consideration. 

Applicants must:

• Must be a citizen of the USA

• Submit a letter that does not exceed 1000 words in length. The letter should clearly and succinctly describe themselves, their past academic accomplishments and their goals for the future. 

• Attach a letter of recommendation from an adult mentor who should be a person in a position to discuss the qualifications of the applicant in terms of the applicants chosen field of study.

• Applicants may be called to a face to face interview with the Application Review Subcommittee.

Sigma Alpha of Omega Nu Deadline 03/31/2016:

Omega Nu is offering scholarships ranging from $500 - $3000 with the potential of a renewal.

Students must:

► Be in need of financial assistance. Must provide personal and financial information, including the most recent tax returns

► Have an overall GPA of 3.2 and/or college potential as recommended by a counselor

► Students must plan to enroll full time at a public California State College or University (2 or 4 year)

► Provide Letter of Recommendation from a teacher or counselor

► Provide a short biography explaining special circumstances the committee should be aware of when evaluating the application

► Provide a recent photograph of the applicant

Completed applications must be submitted to Amy Paul in the College and Career Center or the Omega Nu scholarship office no later than the deadline. The Rotary of Scotts Valley Deadline 4/1/2016:

As part of the Rotary Club of Scotts Valley, they have a long tradition of supporting the youth in the community. A $500 scholarship is being awarded to a student who follows this criteria:

1)  Must be a resident of Scotts Valley or attend Scotts Valley High School

2)  Minimum GPA of 3.0

3)  Participation in at leeast one school-sponsored and one non-school extracurricular activity

4)  Consideration is given to financial need, but need is not a requirement.

An application is considered complete if the following documents are submitted by the deadline:

A)  A letter of interest from the student addressed  to the Rotary Club of Scotts Valley. The letter should include information about college plans and goals, with a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 750

B)  A copy of the current high school transcript

C)  A summary of awards, achievements, activities, and community involvement

D)  A statement regarding financial need, if that is a consideration.

Palo Alto Medical Foundation Pre-Med Scholarship Deadline 4/1/2016:

PAMF annually offers a scholarship for $25,000 over 5 years to a student with the following qualifications:

• Student plans to become a doctor (MD) and selects a college major that will prepare them for this career

• GPA in top 20% of class (verified by transcript)

• Demonstrated need for financial assistance to attend a 4-year college or university (verified by FAFSA, SAR, and parent's tax returns)

If you meet the above qualifications you must submit the following information to apply:

1) 1000 word essay discussing your interest in the field of medicine, your background and life experiences, and your need for financial assistance

2) A statement of support from your college guidance counselor

3) High School transcript

4) FAFSA, SAR, and parent's tax return

Slavic American Cultural Organization Scholarship Deadline 4/1/2016:

The scholarship amount is based on the donations received throughout the year. To be eligible you must be of Slavic Heritage (i.e. the former Republics of Yugoslavia: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, or Slovenia) living in the California counties of Santa Cruz, Monterey, or San Benito. Return your completed application to Amy Paul in the College and Career Center.

Applicants will be judged and evaluated based on:

*  Scholastic Achievement

*  Family Membership

*  Faculty Recommendation and Character Reference

*  Extracurricular Activities

*  Essay (not more than 500 words) explaining your Slavic heritage

The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Deadline 4/1/2016:

Eligible applicants must be entering or already pursuing a college degree and have ties to Santa Cruz County. Awards are in the amount of $500 - $1000.  Preference will be given to: 

1) Students who will pursue a military career, preferably as an officer

2) Students whose parents, grandparents or siblings have served or are serving in the military

3) Students who are closely related to a MOAA Santa Cruz member

Armenian Genocide Essay Scholarship Deadline 4/1/2016:

Assembymembers are holding an essay contest in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide anniversary. All students in 9th-12th grade are invited to participate.

Essay Criteria:

Step 1: The State of California is in the process of updating their 10th grade World History textbooks. Write the section on the Armenian Genocide, be sure to include the cause and consequences, and any other background students need in order to understand why this tragic event took place.

Step 2: Develop a one-day social media campaign - a strategy to expand awareness and gain support - defining what you would do to get people to support your textbook proposal. Identify the appropriate platform(s) (facebook, twitter, instagram, etc) and create a sample post or two advocating for the inclusion of the Armenian Genocide in 10th grade World History.

The Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant Deadline 4/15/2016:

Lynn Beebe was a dedicated teacher, mentor, counselor and friend. She was a supportive and understanding college counselor who helped many students find their way into the college that best fit their needs and personality. Lynn was thoughtful in her counseling work and guided many students towards strong collegiate careers. In her honor, college counseling is available to a deserving student. Student must supply:

1.  Short answer essay for each of the following questions:

     a.  What are your post-high school education and career goals/plans?

     b.  What motivated you to apply for this Grant?

2.  Two letters of recommendation:

     a.  One from a SVHS staff or faculty member

     b.  One from a community member

3.  A resume of school and community activities and accomplishments for grades 9 and 10

4.  A current high school transcript

Hellenic Cultural Institute Deadline 4/22/2016:

The Hellenic Cultural Institute was established with the purpose of promoting and preserving the Hellenic spirit, culture and heritage, past and present. To this end, the Institurte offers scholarships to high school students of the Central Coast, who have demonstrated an interest in the area of Hellenic History and Civilization, by way of Greek literature, drama, poetry, and the arts, as well as other aspects of Greek culture.

The Institute will accept applications based on the following eligibility requirements:

1) Students must be a senior bound for college

2) A GPA of 3.0 or above

3) Exemplary classroom conduct

4) A brief biographical sketch and completion of the application form

5) A minimum 600-word essay on "The Importance of Constantine the Great as a Roman and a Christian Emperor."  The winning essay may be read by the writer at the Institute's annual awards dinner. The value of the scholarship is $3000.

Big Stick Deadline 4/25/2016:

This scholarship will be awarded to students from Santa Cruz County who have demonstrated scholastic ability, and a commitment to ocean sports, the preserevation of the ocean environment and ecology, good citizenship, and sportsmanship. Award ranges from $50-$500.

Caltrains - District 5 & the California Transportation Foundation Deadline 4/29/2016:

Caltrans and CTF are offering three $750 scholarships to graduating High School Seniors who plan to pursue a career in transportation. The field of transportation is broad and employs Engineers, Transportation Planners, Environmental Planners, Archeologists, Land Surveyors, Mechanics, Electricians, and many more. The applications are open to students graduating  from high school and intend to enroll in a Community College, College, University or Trade School within California. Caltrans hires in many areas that do not necessarily requirw a 4-year degree, but require courses from a Community College or Trade School. We definitely want to encourage all students, in all academic ranges, who plan to pursue a career in transportation to apply.

Wayne Richards Memorial Scholarship Deadline 4/30/2016:

This scholarship recognizes varsity student athletes from high school in Santa Cruz County. To be eligible, applicant must:

a) Be a graduating senior varsity athlete from a high school in Santa Cruz County.

b) Have a 3.0 GPA or above in high school classes completed.

c) Intend to enroll full time, starting in the Fall, 2016 at a university, college or trade school of their choice.

d) Show evidence of involvement in school or community affairs.

e) Be a citizen of the United States of America.

There will be four scholarships awarded.  One to a male and one to a female for $1000 each. Two additional scholarships will be available in the amount of $500 each that will be for either a male or a female.

Wharf to Wharf - Howard Marcus Memorial Scholarship Deadline 04/30/2016:

Two scholarships are awarded each year since 1989, one to a boy and one to a girl in memory of Howard Marcus, a longtime member of the Wharf to Wharf Race organizing committee, family man, basketball coach, fine attorney, author and patron of youth track & field. In 1983 Howard founded the Star Track Club, precursor to today's Santa Cruz Track Club. He was among those who dared early to dream of an all-weather track in Santa Cruz County and found a way to build the first at Soquel High School in 1986. Howard Marcus Scholarship in the amount of $3000 per year, renewable for four years, is payable to the four-year college or university of the awardee's selection, on behalf of the awardee in good standing. Applicants for this scholarship must be a Santa Cruz Cruz County resident, post a minimum 3.0 high school GPA, have track & field or cross country high school running experience and plans to continue participation of one of these sports at a four-year college or university.

Wharf to Wharf - Otis Chandler Memorial Scholarship Deadline 04/30/2016:

Since 2006, Wharf to Wharf Race Inc. has awarded two-year college scholarships each year to two graduating Santa Cruz County high school boys and girls. These scholarships commemorate Otis Chandler, a world class track & field athlete, and early advocate of strength training and USA Olympic Team qualifier who rose to jouranlistic acclaim as publisher of the Los Angeles Times. A lifelong health and fitness aficionado,he often cited the lessons learned as a student athlete for his personal and professional success. Accordingly, the scholarships awarded in his name are intended to encourage their recipients to continue pursuit of track & field or cross country participation during the first two years of their collegiate life. Otis Chandler Scholarships, in th eamount of $3000 per year, renewable for two years, are payable to the college or university of the awardee's election, on behalf of the awardee in good standing. Applicants must reside in Santa Cruz County, have participated in track & field or cross country, and have been accepted into a two or four year institution of higher learning and have a commitment of a lifetime of fitness.

Scotts Valley Firefighters Scholarship Deadline 5/1/2016:

Scotts Valley Firefighters-Local Union 3577 is offering $500 to a SVHS student who is interested in establishing a career in the fire service or emergency medical service. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has excelled academically, is active in community service, and involved in extracurricular activities at SVHS.

In order to be considered for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a high school senior currently enrolled at SVHS

• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA

• Must be involved in school and community affairs

• Must be planning an education or career in the fire service and or EMS profession

• Must plan to attend a public California Community College, California State College, California University or suitable Vocational school

• Submit letters of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor or other appropriate persons

Insurance Professionals of Monterey Bay Scholarship Deadline 5/20/2016:

One $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior in Monterey, San Benito or Santa Cruz County who is continuing their education after high school. Any student may apply for this scholarship regardless of their gender or anticipated field of study.

Santa Cruz Elks Lodge Deadline: 12/05/14

Santa Cruz Elks Lodge has six scholarships available.  There is a first, second and third place for both a boy and a girl.  Total scholarships awarded are $2400.  These students then go on to compete in the District contest, onto the State and then on to the National competition.  Many students from Santa Cruz Lodge have won $800 and $1,000 state awards.  The Elks Natiiional Most Valuable Students can win up to $15,000 a year for four years.

The Rotary Club Deadline: 03/13/15

The Rotary Club is awarding five $500 scholarships.  Student requirements are that the student must be a resident of Scotts Valley or attend Scotts Valley High School.  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0,  participate in at least one school sponsored and one non school extracurricular activity (e.g., sports, band, volunteer work, student council, newspapers, clubs) and consideration is given to financial need but is not a requirement.  

An application is considered complete if the following documents are submitted by the deadline:

1) A letter of interest from the student addressed to the Rotary Club of Scotts Valley.  The letter should include information about college plans and goals, with a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 750.

2) A copy of the current high school transcript

For the  sixteenth consecutive year, this scholarship is offered to varsity student athletes from a high school in Santa Cruz County.  You must have a minimum 3.0 gpa, intend to enroll full time in fall of 2015 at a university, college or trade school, show evidence of involvement in school or community affairs and be a citizen of the United States of America.  There will be 4 scholarships awarded.  One to a female student-athlete for $1000, one to a male student-athlete for $1000 and two additional scholarships for $500 each that may go to either a female or male student-athlete.

Mike Smith Kiwanis Scholarship - Deadline: 3/28/14

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance for post secondary education to senior High School students of Northern Santa

Cruz County, who demonstrate exemplary academic and civic values and to promote the reputation of the Kiwanis Club within the community.

The value of the scholarship shall not exceed $2,500. Applications should submit a letter, which must be presented in 10, 11 or 12 point type on

plain white paper. It should not exceed 1000 words in length. You must attach a transcript of record from high school and list the classes for

which grades have not been recorded. The applicant must also submit one letter of recommendation from an adult mentor.

The Military Officers Association of American (MOAA)/Santa Cruz Chapter - Deadline: 4/1/13

Eligible applicants must be entering or already pursuing a college degree and have ties to Santa Cruz County. 

Preference will be given to:

     (1) students who will pursue a military career, especially as an officer,

     (2) students whose parents, grandparents or other close relatives served in the military, and

     (3) students who are closely related to a MOAA member. 

Last year they awarded eight $1,000.00 scholarships but the normal runs about 3-5. MOAA rarely has applicants planning on going into the

military so don't let that preference scare you away from applying.

This year the Best Buy Scholarship Program will award 1,200 scholarships of $1,000 each to students in grades 9-12 living in the U.S. or Puerto Rico who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study upon high school graduation. We’re looking for folks with solid grades, who are involved in volunteer efforts in their schools and communities, and/or have a work history. 9–12th grade students from private, public, alternative or home schools are eligible to apply. Grants are a one-time award, so if you were a winner in the past, you aren’t eligible to apply again.

Jimmie Cox Memorial Scholarship - Deadline Date: 2/27/13
$4,000 award for a student entering or currently attending college and majoring in agriculture. Starting in 2012, the American AgCredit Scholarship Program has parnered with Jimmie Cox and will give an additional $2,000 award to the winner. This award will be allocated for the remaining years in college with verification of registration for each session of full time classess. Students must live either in Santa Cruz County or within the Pajaro Valley Unifified School District boundaries, or be a current member of the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau. Selection will be based on the student's scholastic record, agricultural potential, special activities, personal history, letters of recommendation and financial need. San Jose Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship Program – Deadline Date: 3/1/13
The San Jose Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is part of a worldwide fraternal order devoted to fellowship, high ideals, community service and charitable works. Student must be a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 3.5,  a demonstrated financial need, a fully completed application form submitted on time with resume, recommendation, and written prompts. The selection committee considers finanical need, strong grades, high ideals and ability. $2,500 award. Pick up an application in the SVHS College and Career Center.

Sons of Italy – Deadline Date: 3/1/13
The Sons of Italy Western Foundation and the Grand Lodge of California, Order Sons of Italy in America, are proud to provide college scholarships to eligible students. These scholarships range from $500.00 to $5,000.00. Additionally, Italian Language Study Grants are available for a one-month complete immersion course in Italian language at an Italian College. Scholarships will be awarded to students graduating from public or private high schools in California, Nevada, and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Applicants must be wholly or partly of Italian ancestry. For the Italian Language Study Grant, applicants must also have completed a foreign language course in high school. Selection will be based on scholastic record, activities evidencing leadership, financial need, written personal goals statement, Essay of Italian Origin, and letters of recommendation. 2012 Cabrillo College High School Scholarships - Deadline Date: 3/4/13
The Cabrillo College Foundation is offering scholarships to encourage SC County High School Seniors to begin their college education at Cabrillo College. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – Deadline Date:  3/15/13
IBEW 234 is offering three (3) $500 scholarships to high school graduates – one each in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito County, who will graduate during the current school year and who meet all qualifying criteria.  To apply, a student must have at least one present or past union member, of any affiliation, in his or her immediate family and type an essay of approximately 500 words on one of the following topics:

Italian Catholic Federation – Deadline Date: 3/15/13
The Italian Catholic Federation receives nearly 400 applications for its yearly scholarship awards. Applications are received from students in public as well as Catholic high schools in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Illinois. To apply, students must be of the Catholic faith and of Italian heritage (or children or grand children of non-Italian ICF members) and meet academic, financial need, and character requirements. First year scholarships in the amount of $400 will be awarded to approximately 200 applicants.

San Jose State Alumni Scholarship
Available to student s who plan to attend San Jose State University in the Fall.  $500 - $2000 one  time and renewable scholarship to deserving local public high school students.  Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA and evidence of involvement in school and/or community affairs.  Student statement, two letters of recommendation, and high school transcript required.  Come by the College and Career Center for an application.

Rotary Club of Scotts Valley Scholarship Program – Deadline Date: 3/29/13
This year Rotary Club is awarding five (5) $500 college scholarships to high school seniors.The student requirements are as follows:  1. Must be a resident of the city of Scotts Valley.  2. Minimum GPA of 3.0.  3. Participation in at least one school-sponsored and one non-school extracurricular activity (e.g., sports, band, volunteer work, student council, newspaper, clubs).  4. Consideration is given to financial need, but need is not a requirement.  Submit the following documents:  1. A letter of interest from the student addressed to the Rotary Club of Scotts Valley.  The letter should include information about college plans and goals, with a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 750.  2. A copy of the current high school transcript.  3. A summary of awards, achievements, activities, and community involvement.  4. Mike Smith Kiwanis Scholarship - Deadline Date: 3/29/13
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance for post secondary education to senior High School students of Northern Santa Cruz County, who demonstrate exemplary academic and civic values and to promote the reputation of the Kiwanis Club within the community. The value of the scholarship shall not exceed $2,500. Applications should submit a letter, which must be presented in 10, 11 or 12 point type on plain white paper. It should not exceed 1000 words in length. You must attach a transcript of record from high school and list the classes for which grades have not been recorded. The applicant must also submit one letter of recommendation from an adult mentor. Please come by the College and Career Center for more information and an application.

 

Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group/Pre-Med Scholarship - Deadline Date: 4/15/13
The Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (PAFMG) Pre-Medical Scholarship is awarded to deserving local high school students who attend a four-year college and plan to pursue careers as doctors. The scholarship was started by Richard Babb, M.D., who was a gastroenterologist at our Palo Alto Clinic, and is funded in full by our doctors. Since Dr. Babb started the program in 1993, our doctors have awarded more than 33 scholarships to local students. Scholarships are $5,000 a year (a total of $20,000 per recipient).

The Omega Nu Scholarship program is one of the largest in Santa Cruz County. The program was established in 1957 to assist qualified students who are planning to attend public California universities or colleges. Hellenic Cultural Institute, California Central Coast - Deadline Date: 4/15/13

Brad Hubbard, Wayne Richards Memorial Scholarship Fund – Deadline Date: 4/30/13
The Wayne Richards Memorial Scholarship Committee is announcing its scholarship benefiting varsity student-athletes from a high school in Santa Cruz County. There will be four scholarships awarded - one to a male student-athlete for $1,000, one to a female student-athlete for $1,000 and 2 additional scholarships for $500 each. Insurance Professionals of Monterey Bay – Deadline Date: 4/30/13
$1000 scholarship to a high school senior in Monterey, San Benito or Santa Cruz County who is planning to continue his/her education after high school.  Any student may apply for this scholarship, regardless of their gender or anticipated field of study.  Requirements: completed application, minimum GPA of 2.75, essay of no more than 2 pages in length (double spaced) – Essay prompt: "What would you put in your emergency kit for life?
